Defending as a unit: lime (back four, two central midfielders, goalkeeper) defend against six red attackers starting from 40 m. The block stays compact: no more than 10–12 m between the lines and the far full-back tucked in. After a regain, lime counter into the two mini-goals.

Rules

  • Area from the goal line to about 40 m, full width
  • Coach serves a new ball as soon as each attack ends
  • After winning the ball the defending group counters into either mini-goal on the 40 m line within 8 s
  • 2 min rest; swap the attackers with substitutes every second block

Coaching points

  • Back four shifts together towards the ball; far full-back tucks in
  • One presses the ball, the nearest covers
  • Midfielders screen within 10–12 m of the centre-backs
  • Whole line steps up when the ball goes back

Common mistakes

  • Centre-back follows a forward into midfield and leaves a gap
  • Far full-back stays wide marking nobody
  • Midfielders chase the ball and open the space behind
