1v1 in the wide channel
Full-backs serve to wingers and defend a 15×30 m channel along the touchline, steering them down the line rather than inside.
Rules
- Channel runs to the goal line with two cone gates on it and a goalkeeper in goal
- Full-back passes to the winger and closes down
- Winger scores by dribbling through a gate or crossing for the goalkeeper to catch
- Full-back scores by winning the ball and dribbling out of the top of the channel
To make it harder
- Add a covering centre-back who can come across once the winger is past halfway
Coaching points
- Close down while the pass travels and brake early
- Show the winger down the line
- Stay on your feet
