Finishing after a combination: two groups start at the edge of the final third. The first player plays into the striker, receives the lay-off and plays a through pass for the striker's run; the shot is taken first time or with one touch. Alternate sides so both groups work.

Rules

  • Two groups of four to six, a goalkeeper and one striker
  • Pass into the striker, receive the lay-off, play a through ball for the striker's run
  • Finish first time or after one touch
  • Change the striker every five repetitions; alternate sides and count goals per group

Coaching points

  • Firm pass into the striker, to the foot away from the imagined defender
  • Soft lay-off
  • Striker curves the run as the lay-off is played to stay onside
  • Finish low and across the goalkeeper
